What We Do

At The Feather House, we believe that kindness is action. We stand beside people during their most vulnerable moments and provide the structure, support, and resources they need to move forward.

Whether someone is escaping homelessness, recovering from domestic hardship, or simply in need of a helping hand, our team is ready to respond with compassion and capability. We listen without judgment and act with intention.

Our mission is grounded in restoring dignity. Through small steps and steady support, we help people rediscover their strength and feel seen, valued, and held by their community.

Our Achievements

Over 3,000 Meals Delivered in 2024

Through partnerships with local volunteers and donors, we delivered nutritious meals to families across Alameda County during moments of crisis and food insecurity.

120 Families Rehoused

We supported over a hundred households in their transition from shelters or unsafe conditions to stable, long-term housing. Each family received furniture, utilities support, and case management.

Launch of “Feather Circles” Support Groups

In early 2023, we launched a network of healing circles — safe spaces where women, LGBTQ+ youth, and trauma survivors could gather for emotional support and peer mentorship.

After fleeing an unsafe home, I had nowhere to go with my son. The Feather House found us temporary shelter the same day. But they didn’t stop there — they guided me through job applications, helped me find childcare, and gave us a second chance.

- Angela Rivers

I volunteered for a few months and saw how deeply this team cares. They listen. They show up. They remember names. It's more than charity — it's community at its purest.

- Marcus Velez

As a social worker, I’ve referred multiple clients to The Feather House. They always respond quickly and respectfully. One of my clients called it ‘the first time she felt seen.’ That says everything.

- Clarissa Zhou

After losing everything, I stopped believing in myself. The team didn’t just give me groceries or a blanket — they gave me dignity. That’s something I’ll never forget.
